Microsoft wanted to introduce Windows 11 only in the coming week officially. But already, a version has leaked that reveals many details about the new operating system. Parts of it are reminiscent of macOS but can be deferred. In addition, there are first details about the possible upgrade costs of Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.

According to The Verge, the Start menu not only opens in the middle of the screen but is now a window instead of a menu and also contains other information. There are no more tiles than Windows 10, but only pinned apps, and you get quick access to the last opened documents. At this point, the PC can also be shut down. The start menu, but also all windows are rounded.

Visually, the new Windows 11 is strongly reminiscent of the discontinued version of Windows 10X. Everything becomes a bit more colorful and modern. Microsoft attaches greater importance to widgets for Windows 11. In addition, it will be much easier to plow the windows in specific sizes. This makes the operation even more thoughtful. Until the release of the final version, of course, there is still a lot to be done.

Will the upgrade to Windows 11 be free?

XDA has taken up the question and found an interesting hint. According to the current state of knowledge, you will be able to upgrade free of charge from Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 to Windows 11. From Windows 8, it does not work according to current information. There you would first have to upgrade to Windows 8.1.
